Short answer
The ClickUp mobile app is on every plan for iOS and Android, including guests. You can update tasks, use My Tasks, and open List, Board, and Calendar views. Whiteboards, Gantt, Goals, and creating dashboards stay on the web.
The ClickUp mobile app is for updating work you already structured on the web. You can reply, change a date, check a task, and capture something new. You should not plan a Gantt chart or rebuild custom fields from the phone. ClickUp Help is explicit about that split, and it saves you from hunting for a button that is not there.
The app is on every plan. Guests can use it. It is only for iOS and Android. Help also says time zone changes are not detected while you use the app, so a travel day can show the wrong clock until you account for that. Setup of the Workspace itself is in how to use ClickUp. The ClickUp hub links the desktop features the phone does not replace.
What can you do in the ClickUp mobile app?
Help's intro lists the main mobile surfaces. Use this as the map, not as a promise that every desktop control is present.
| Feature | What Help says |
|---|---|
| Home | A customizable page for tasks, reminders, comments, and the hierarchy |
| Inbox | Notifications, and replies to teammates |
| My Tasks | Important tasks, calendar events, and related items |
| Personal List | Quick add. It syncs with Personal List on the browser and desktop apps |
| Chat | Integrated into Home on mobile |
| Search | Tasks, messages, Docs, and more |
| Docs | Create, open, and edit Docs and pages, from the More menu and from Doc view |
| Clips | Available from the More menu |
| Brain | Answers, creating items such as tasks and Lists, and writing help. Also @mention Brain in a comment or Chat message |
| SyncUps | Face-to-face collaboration on mobile |
| Hierarchy | Spaces, Folders, Subfolders, and Lists. Swipe right from the left edge to open it |
| Widgets | Home screen actions for tasks, reminders, and today |
| Default launch page | Choose which page opens when you launch the app |
Artifacts are also listed: Help describes them as apps, dashboards, landing pages, and similar items you create from prompts, uploaded files, computed results, and Workspace data. You can create and view them on mobile.
Brain on mobile still sits behind ClickUp's AI add-on pricing. AI features start at $9 per user/month in our tool data. Prices were checked in October 2026. Do not assume the Brain entry means AI is included on Free Forever. Plan details are in ClickUp pricing.
On iOS you can change the app language. If login fails, Help says to try Other Sign In Options at the bottom of the screen.
How do you create a task on mobile?
A task needs a name and a location. Everything else is optional, and the optional fields depend on which ClickApps are on for that Space.
Help lists these optional details when you create a task:
- Description, with rich text and @mentions
- Assignee
- Start date, due date, and time
- Recurring settings
- Status and task type
- Priority
- Custom field values
- Tags
- Attachments
You can quick-create a task, create one from List view, from Board view, or from Calendar view. On iOS, Siri can create a task as well.
Subtasks: open the task, go to the Subtasks section, and tap Add Subtask. A task can have up to 1,000 subtasks, including nested ones. Nested subtasks require the Nested Subtasks ClickApp. Guests with full edit permissions can create tasks. Guests with Edit permissions cannot create or delete subtasks. The web version of that choice is in ClickUp subtasks vs checklists.
Priority flags are Urgent, High, Normal, and Low, the same four labels as on the web. You cannot rename them. See ClickUp task priorities.
Android can also send an image, file, or link into ClickUp with the share sheet: Share, then ClickUp, then create a task or a reminder. You pick the location and can set priority and attachments from that screen.
Which views work on the ClickUp mobile app?
Help's views article says you can create and access List, Board, Calendar, Chat, Dashboard, Doc, and Table views on mobile. You can submit a Form or share its URL. You cannot create or edit a Form on mobile. That same article says Form view is available on paid plans. On the web, Free Forever includes one form, so treat the paid-plan line as the mobile article's rule.
The mobile intro is stricter about Dashboards: you can view them, and you cannot create or edit them on the phone. If those two articles disagree, build the dashboard on the web and only open it on mobile.
| On the phone | Limit Help states |
|---|---|
| List, Board, Calendar, Table, Doc, Chat | Create and open |
| Dashboard views | Open them. Build and edit dashboard cards on the web |
| Form | Submit or share the URL. No create or edit. Mobile article says paid plans |
| Gantt, Whiteboards, Goals | Not available on mobile |
| Custom fields | View and update many values. You cannot create or add new fields |
| Templates, billing, guest invites, timesheets | Not available on mobile |
You can group or filter a view on mobile. The options change by view type.
Calendar view on the phone is the right tool for "what is dated today." Building the dependency chain is not. ClickUp task dependencies are on every plan on the web, and they are not available in the mobile app. Add waiting-on and blocking relationships from a browser, then check the dated tasks on the phone.
Docs on mobile support rich text such as bullets and checklists. You can create Docs and pages on mobile, and you can request access when a private Doc is shared with you. Heavy wiki structure is still easier on the web. ClickUp Docs covers the desktop side.
How do home screen widgets work?
You have to be logged into the mobile app before a widget will attach. Guests can use the widgets too.
iOS widgets require iOS 14 or later. Help lists:
- A small Shortcuts widget
- A small Add Task widget
- A small Add reminder widget
- A medium Today widget with a quick-create button for tasks (you can change that button to reminders by pressing and holding the widget)
- A large Today widget with quick-create buttons for tasks and reminders
The Today widget shows tasks and reminders due today.
Android has three widgets: Create task, Create reminder, and Today. Today asks you to choose a Workspace when you add it, and you can resize it. The Create task and Create reminder widgets are for capture without opening the full app first.
Widgets are a capture tool. They are not a second Workspace. If the phone is only for checking today's list, the Today widget plus My Tasks is the whole mobile habit.
What should stay on the web?
Use the phone for capture, comments, status changes, and today's dates. Use the browser or desktop app when the action is structural.
Stay on the web for:
- Gantt, Whiteboards, and Goals
- Creating dashboards or new custom fields
- Templates
- Billing and account settings
- Inviting guests
- Timesheets and timesheet approvals
- Dependencies
That list is from ClickUp Help's mobile intro, plus the dependency limit from the dependencies article. If a feature you rely on is on that list, the mobile app will feel incomplete, because it is incomplete for that job. Is ClickUp too complicated is about the desktop learning curve. The phone is the opposite problem: fewer controls, on purpose.
Free Forever is still $0, and the app is included. You do not pay extra for iOS or Android. Unlimited is $7 per user/month billed annually ($10 monthly) when you need the paid Workspace features, not because the app itself is locked. Prices were checked in October 2026.
Install the app if you comment, close tasks, or capture work away from a desk. Keep the first setup, the guest invites, and the dependency map on the web, where those controls exist.
