Short answer
ClickUp Unlimited costs $7 per user/month billed annually ($10 monthly). Business costs $12 annually ($19 monthly). Upgrade to Business when you need unlimited dashboards, workload management, higher automation limits or more guest seats, not because the mid tier is the default.
ClickUp Unlimited is the first paid plan most teams land on. Business is the next step up. Unlimited costs $7 per user/month billed annually, or $10 billed monthly. Business costs $12 per user/month billed annually, or $19 billed monthly. The upgrade is worth it when a specific Unlimited limit blocks real work, not because Business sounds more professional. Prices below were checked in October 2026. Confirm them on the ClickUp pricing page before you buy. The full ladder is in ClickUp pricing, and the step below Unlimited is covered in ClickUp Free vs Unlimited.
How do ClickUp Unlimited and Business compare?
Both plans include unlimited storage, unlimited Spaces, native time tracking, Goals, Portfolios, Gantt and permission-controlled guests. The split is about reporting depth, capacity planning, automation volume and guest seat count.
Figures in this table come from ClickUp's pricing comparison and Help Center, as reflected in our tool data.
| Unlimited | Business | |
|---|---|---|
| Price (annual) | $7 per user/month | $12 per user/month |
| Price (monthly) | $10 per user/month | $19 per user/month |
| Storage and Spaces | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Time tracking, Goals, Gantt | Included | Included |
| Dashboards | 100 uses (cap does not reset) | Unlimited dashboards with advanced cards |
| Automations | 500 active rules, 1,000 executions | Unlimited active rules, 5,000 executions |
| Workload and timelines | Trial | Included (workload management) |
| Mind maps | Not the Business-listed set | Included |
| Guest seats | 5 permission-controlled seats for one paid user, plus 2 per additional paid user; unlimited view-only | More guest seats than Unlimited |
| SSO | Not Google SSO on this tier | Google SSO |
| Sprint points and velocity cards | Sprint points marked as a trial; velocity dashboard cards documented on Business and above | Higher-plan sprint reporting |
Dashboards are the easy item to misread. On Unlimited, ClickUp Help lists 100 dashboard uses. A use includes creating, viewing, editing or removing a dashboard or card, and those uses do not reset. Unlimited dashboards, with no cap, start on Business. Moving from Unlimited to Business removes that reporting ceiling.

What do you already get on Unlimited?
Unlimited is everything most growing teams need for daily delivery:
- Unlimited Spaces, Folders, forms and storage
- Native time tracking, estimates and timesheets
- Goals and Portfolio management
- Guests with permission control, plus unlimited view-only guests
- ClickUp Chat and email in ClickUp
- Integrations such as Slack, HubSpot and Google Drive
- Up to 500 active automation rules and 1,000 executions
- 100 dashboard uses
If your pain on Free Forever was storage, Spaces, forms, time tracking or guest permissions, Unlimited usually solves it. That is why Is ClickUp worth it? treats Unlimited as the plan most small teams should price first.
What does Business add?
ClickUp describes Business as the tier for teams that need deeper reporting and controls. In practice, these are the reasons people upgrade:
- Unlimited dashboards with advanced cards. Agency leads and operations managers who live in reporting hit the Unlimited use cap. Business removes it.
- Workload management. Capacity planning across people and projects is listed with Business. On Unlimited it is marked as a trial.
- Higher automation allowance. Unlimited active rules and 5,000 executions support client intake, status handoffs and recurring retainers at scale.
- More guest seats. Client-heavy teams that already use their Unlimited guest allotment need the next tier rather than converting clients into paid members.
- Mind maps and Google SSO. Useful for planning workshops and simpler sign-in for teams on Google Workspace.
- Sprint reporting depth. Sprint dashboard cards for velocity are documented on Business and above in ClickUp Help.
None of that means every team should buy Business on day one. If you do not open dashboards weekly, do not plan capacity formally, and stay under Unlimited automation and guest limits, the extra $5 per user/month (annual) is optional.
When is Unlimited enough?
Stay on Unlimited when all of these are true:
- You use List, Board, Calendar and Gantt views more than cross-project dashboards.
- 100 dashboard uses will last you a long time, or you barely build dashboards.
- 1,000 automation executions cover your month.
- Your permission-controlled guest count fits the Unlimited allotment.
- You do not need ongoing workload views or Google SSO.
- Sprint points and basic sprint Lists are enough without velocity cards.
Solo freelancers, small product teams and agencies with a few clients often meet that list. Price the seats honestly first. A 10-person Workspace on Unlimited annual billing is $70 per month. On Business it is $120 per month. The gap is $50 per month, every month.
| Team size | Unlimited (annual) | Business (annual) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $7/month | $12/month | $5/month |
| 5 people | $35/month | $60/month | $25/month |
| 10 people | $70/month | $120/month | $50/month |
| 25 people | $175/month | $300/month | $125/month |
Annual billing keeps both plans cheaper than monthly. AI is still separate on either tier. Brain AI is $9 per user/month. The broader Everything AI bundle is $28 per user/month. Buying Business does not include AI.
When should you upgrade to Business?
Upgrade when one of these is already true, not when you hope it might be:
- Dashboard uses are running out, or advanced cards you need sit on Business.
- Workload is how you staff projects, and the trial is not enough.
- Automations are hitting 1,000 executions, especially on client request forms and status handoffs.
- You need more permission-controlled guest seats without turning clients into full members.
- Google SSO or mind maps are a real requirement for your Workspace.
- Sprint velocity reporting is part of how engineering leads manage delivery.
Agencies and multi-client operations teams hit these reasons first. See ClickUp for agencies for the Folder-per-client pattern that usually drives dashboard and guest demand.
How does this compare with other mid-tier plans?
ClickUp Business at $12 annually sits near monday.com Standard (about $12) and below Asana Advanced ($24.99). Asana Starter is $10.99, which is higher than ClickUp Unlimited and close to ClickUp Business. Asana is more polished and easier to roll out. ClickUp is more configurable and usually cheaper for the same headcount. ClickUp vs Asana walks through that trade-off. For the product overview, see the ClickUp review.
How to choose without overbuying
- Start on Free Forever with one real project if you have not already.
- Move to Unlimited when storage, Spaces, guests or time tracking block work.
- Stay on Unlimited until a named Business feature is on a job you already run.
- Count seats and guests honestly before you upgrade the whole Workspace.
- Choose annual billing only when the team has already agreed to stay.
If you are still deciding whether ClickUp itself is the right tool, keep the plan choice secondary. Pick the workflow first, then buy the cheapest plan that supports it. Confirm current limits and prices on ClickUp's pricing page before you change plan.
