Short answer
A ClickUp work schedule sets the Workspace workweek and working hours. It is on every plan, and only owners and admins can edit it. The default is Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Custom hours per day, public holidays, and extra days off start on Business Plus. The Skip Non-Working Days ClickApp starts on Unlimited.
A ClickUp work schedule tells the Workspace which days count. Owners and admins set the workweek and the hours. ClickUp then uses that calendar for capacity in Workload and Timesheets, and, when the right ClickApp is on, for due dates that should land on a working day. The schedule is on every plan. Custom hours that differ by weekday, public holidays, and extra company days off are not. Help puts those on Business Plus and Enterprise.
The default workweek is Monday to Friday. The default hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If that matches the company, you still want to open the setting once and confirm it, because capacity math downstream assumes it. How that capacity is drawn is in ClickUp Workload view. The product index is the ClickUp hub.
What does a ClickUp work schedule control?
Help lists three settings. Two of them have a plan gate.
| Setting | Default | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Workweek | Monday to Friday. Click days to include or exclude them | Every plan |
| Working hours | 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Same hours every workday, or different hours by day | The schedule is on every plan. Custom hours by day are on Business Plus and Enterprise |
| Non-working days and exceptions | A country holiday calendar, plus named days off such as a company shutdown | Business Plus and Enterprise |
Only one country's holiday calendar can be active at a time. The Working hours section shows the daily capacity and the weekly capacity that result from your choices. Help's own example is a four day week at 8 hours, which is 32 hours of weekly capacity, not a fixed 40. A coffee shop open Tuesday to Sunday is the example Help uses for a workweek that is not Monday to Friday.
That capacity is the Workspace default. One person's limit can still be overridden. The place those hours show up as a weekly field is ClickUp timesheets. Help says dates with no scheduled capacity, including Workspace holidays, show as empty capacity there.
Personal Time Off is a second layer, not a replacement for the schedule. Help says each person marks their own days off, and those days appear on assigned tasks and in Workload, Gantt, Timeline, Planner, and Timesheets. Public holidays for the company stay on the work schedule. This page does not assign Personal Time Off to a plan, because the schedule article describes the behavior without a separate plan row.
How do you set the workweek, hours, and days off?
Owners and admins change the schedule. Members cannot.
- In the upper left, click the Workspace avatar and select Settings.
- In the All settings sidebar, under Features, click Work Schedule.
- Click the days to include or exclude them from the workweek.
- Under Working hours, choose the same hours for every workday, or custom hours for each day.
- Enter the start and end time.
- Set non-working days and exceptions if your plan includes them.
- Click Save changes in the lower right.
Changes apply to everyone and can move scheduling and capacity. Tell the team before you save a new workweek. A shop that adds Saturday as a working day has just given Workload a new column of capacity.
Holidays, on Business Plus and Enterprise:
- Click Select public holidays.
- Search for and select the country.
- Click Save changes.
Extra days off, on the same plans:
- Click Add days off.
- Select one or more dates.
- Add a title, such as a company wide day off.
- Click Mark as non-working days.
- Close the date menu, then click Save changes.
To remove a day, hover it on the settings page and click the trash icon, then save. From the exceptions calendar, click Add days off, click the existing day (a consecutive block selects together), and click Remove exceptions. Deleted exceptions are treated as working days again.
Which scheduling ClickApps use the work schedule?
The schedule is the calendar. ClickApps decide whether ClickUp honors it when it calculates a duration. Help's scheduling table, which it says can change, lists:
| Feature | Free Forever | Unlimited | Business | Business Plus | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Duration | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Skip Non-Working Days | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Remap subtask due dates | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Reschedule dependencies | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Parent and subtask sync | No | No | No | Yes | Yes |
Skip Non-Working Days lives in the App Center under Scheduling and Dates. Turn it on to skip non-working days when you schedule by duration and when dependencies reschedule. Turn it off if durations should count every calendar day. Guests and members cannot enable ClickApps. Admins can.
Help's duration example: non-working days are Saturday and Sunday, the task starts 18 September 2025, and the duration is 10 days. With the ClickApp on, the due date lands on 1 October 2025. You can flip the toggle at the bottom of the date selector if that one task should include the weekend. Recurring tasks may still recur on a non-working day. Elapsed duration is the other escape: Help says an elapsed duration turns the skip toggle off and counts straight through.
When Skip Non-Working Days is on, an assignee's Personal Time Off is skipped too. Help's rule for several assignees is strict: a day counts as non-working only when every assignee is off. If one person is working, the day still counts. Overlap with someone's time off shows a warning.
On the date picker, days outside the workweek are grey. Holidays and custom exceptions have a red dot. You can still click them. The colors are information, not a lock. Task dependencies are what get pushed when rescheduling uses the same calendar.
Where do non-working days show up?
Help says non-working days are grey in three views:
- Gantt
- Timeline
- Workload
Timeline view is the schedule people scan week to week. Grey days there are the work schedule, not a filter you applied by accident. Workload gives those days no capacity, so work that lands on them shows as a problem rather than as spare room. Gantt uses the same grey so a bar that crosses a weekend is readable.
Free Forever can set the workweek. It cannot use Duration or Skip Non-Working Days, and it cannot add the holiday calendar. A due date on Free Forever is a date you pick. Unlimited adds duration and the skip ClickApp, so weekends in the workweek setting start to matter. Business Plus is the plan where the holiday list and per day hours join in. Our pricing data, checked October 2026, publishes Free Forever at $0, Unlimited at $7 per user per month billed annually ($10 monthly), and Business at $12 annually ($19 monthly). It does not publish a Business Plus price. Confirm that rate on ClickUp's pricing page before you buy it for the holiday calendar. The plans we do have numbers for are in ClickUp pricing.
Set the workweek on day one, even on Free Forever, so later upgrades inherit a calendar the team already agreed on. Add holidays when the plan allows it, and only then turn on Skip Non-Working Days if you want durations to jump those dates. A schedule nobody told the team about will quietly move due dates the first time someone sets a duration.

Frequently asked questions
What is a ClickUp work schedule?
It is the Workspace calendar of working days and hours. Help says it also sets the default capacity used in Workload view and Timesheets.
Who can edit the ClickUp work schedule?
Workspace owners and admins. Changes apply to everyone in the Workspace.
Are holidays on every ClickUp plan?
No. Help says non-working days and exceptions, including a country's public holidays, are on Business Plus and Enterprise. The workweek itself is on every plan.
Does ClickUp skip weekends when it sets a due date?
When the Skip Non-Working Days ClickApp is on, durations skip days outside the workweek, plus holidays and exceptions the plan includes. That ClickApp starts on Unlimited, not on Free Forever.
Can you still pick a Saturday as a due date?
Yes. Help says days outside the workweek are grey and holidays have a red dot, and you can still select a non-working date by hand.
