Short answer

Asana's free Personal plan is limited to 2 users. Starter costs $10.99 per user/month billed annually ($13.49 monthly) and Advanced costs $24.99 billed annually ($30.49 monthly). Enterprise is custom.

Asana is a paid product for almost every team. The free Personal plan exists, and it stops at 2 users. After that, Starter is $10.99 per user/month on annual billing, or $13.49 if you pay month to month. Advanced is $24.99 per user/month billed annually, or $30.49 monthly. Enterprise is custom, and AI usage beyond the included allowance is billed separately.

Those figures are the ones in our tool data, checked in October 2026. Confirm them on the official Asana pricing page before you add seats. This guide explains the bill. The Asana review and the Asana profile cover the product.

How much does Asana cost?

Asana charges per user. A person who needs a full account is a seat. The annual price is the one Asana leads with, and the monthly price is higher if you want to cancel sooner.

PlanBilled annuallyBilled monthlyWho it fits
Personal$0$0Very small use, currently 2 users
Starter$10.99 per user/month$13.49 per user/monthTeams that have outgrown 2 users
Advanced$24.99 per user/month$30.49 per user/monthTeams that need higher-plan features such as workload
EnterpriseCustomCustomOrganizations with custom security and admin needs

There is no unlimited-member free tier in our data. Two people can try Asana together. A third person means a paid plan, even if the work is light.

What is included on the free Personal plan?

The free plan is for very small use. Treat it as a way to learn the interface with one colleague, not as the plan you roll out to a department.

Asana's feature list, across the product, includes tasks, subtasks and dependencies, plus List, Board, Timeline and Calendar views. It also includes portfolios and goals, rules-based automation, forms, and workload management on higher plans. Our data does not assign every one of those to Personal. It does say that teams which need timelines, portfolios or workload views usually move to a paid tier, and that some key features require higher paid tiers.

So the practical reading is: start free only if two people and a simple task list are enough. The moment you need the planning views Asana is known for, budget for Starter or Advanced and check which view sits on which tier.

If the free-plan limit is the 2-user cap, compare that with Is ClickUp free?. ClickUp's Free Forever plan allows unlimited members, with 60MB of storage and limits on Spaces, forms and whiteboards.

What do Starter and Advanced add?

Do not buy Advanced on the name alone. The price jump is large, and our data is explicit about only some of the split.

  • Workload management is described as a higher-plan feature. If capacity planning is the reason you are leaving a board tool, Advanced is the tier to verify first.
  • Timelines, portfolios and goals are core Asana strengths, and our pricing notes say most teams that need them move off the free plan. Confirm whether your required view is Starter or Advanced on the pricing page. The page changes, and a wrong assumption is an expensive seat.
  • Rules, forms and integrations are part of why marketing and operations teams pick Asana. The integration list in our data includes Slack, Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, Jira, Salesforce, Adobe Creative Cloud and Zoom. A broad catalog is not the same thing as every integration on every tier.
  • AI is not a flat "included forever" line. Usage beyond the included allowance is billed separately.

Starter is the plan most growing teams should price first. Advanced is the plan to add when a named feature, often workload or another higher-tier control, is on a job you already run. Enterprise is a sales conversation, not a list price.

What does Asana cost for a team?

Multiply the seat price by the number of people who need an account. Occasional guests and full members are not the same thing, so count only the seats you will actually assign, then re-check Asana's current guest rules before you promise client access.

Annual billing, from the prices above:

Team sizeStarter per monthAdvanced per month
5 users$54.95$124.95
10 users$109.90$249.90
20 users$219.80$499.80

Monthly billing costs more per seat: $13.49 on Starter and $30.49 on Advanced. A 10-person team on monthly Starter is $134.90 per month, versus $109.90 on annual Starter. The gap is the fee for flexibility. Choose monthly if you are still testing. Choose annual if the team has already agreed to stay.

A 10-person team that moves from Starter to Advanced goes from $109.90 to $249.90 per month on annual billing, more than twice the Starter bill. That is the decision to slow down on. If the only missing piece is a view you have not confirmed is Advanced-only, ask Asana's pricing page before you upgrade everyone.

How Asana pricing compares with other tools

Asana is polished, and the seat price is higher than several tools we review. These are list prices from our data, checked October 2026, for the first paid tier on annual billing where the vendor publishes one.

ToolFirst paid price in our dataFree plan limit to know
Asana Starter$10.99 per user/month2 users
ClickUp Unlimited$7 per user/monthUnlimited members, 60MB storage
monday.com BasicAbout $9 per seat/month2 seats, up to 3 boards
Trello Standard$5 per user/month10 collaborators and 10 boards per Workspace
Notion Plus$10 per seat/monthIndividuals; limited block trial for 2+ members
Wrike Team$10 per user/monthFree plan is essential task management only

ClickUp Business, if you need the higher ClickUp tier, is $12 per user/month billed annually, still far below Asana Advanced at $24.99. Wrike Business is $25 per user/month billed annually, in a similar range to Asana Advanced, and Wrike sells seats in bundles. monday.com's higher tiers (Standard about $12, Pro about $19 on annual billing) climb the same way Asana's do. Read ClickUp pricing and ClickUp Free vs Unlimited if you are comparing bills rather than brand names.

Cheaper is not automatically better. Asana's case is a clean interface, clear ownership, timelines and portfolios, and an integration catalog that scores at the top of our set. Trello is cheaper because it is a board, not because it includes portfolios. Notion is a docs workspace with lighter project features. The fair question is whether you will use the Asana features you are paying for.

ClickUp vs Asana walks through that feature trade-off category by category. Asana alternatives is the short list if the bill is the reason you are shopping.

Which Asana plan should you buy?

  1. Use Personal only while two people are testing a real project. Do not design a rollout on a plan the third hire will break.
  2. Price Starter for everyone who needs an account. At $10.99 per user/month billed annually, write the annual total down before you announce the tool.
  3. Move to Advanced only for a feature you have confirmed is not on Starter. Workload is the higher-plan item our data names directly.
  4. Keep AI usage in a separate line of the budget. It is billed beyond the included allowance.
  5. If the total is hard to justify, price ClickUp Unlimited at $7 per user/month billed annually for the same headcount. ClickUp is more to configure and less polished on day one. Asana is the cleaner rollout. The best project management software list states that trade-off in one place, and how to choose project management software is the buying checklist if you are still early.

For a 10-person team that wants structure and is willing to pay for it, Asana Starter is a coherent choice. For a 10-person team that wants the lowest serious seat price and can spend a week on setup, ClickUp is the comparison to run before you sign the annual Asana invoice.
