Short answer
ClickUp Calendar view shows tasks that have a start date, a due date, or an active Date custom field. All plans include unlimited uses. Drag a task to change its date. Future recurring tasks on the calendar are a paid-plan option.
ClickUp Calendar view is the schedule inside your Workspace. It shows tasks that already have a date, and you can drag them to a new day. It is not a separate calendar product, and it is not the same thing as syncing to Google Calendar. All plans include unlimited uses. If a task is missing, it almost always has no date.
This page is the view itself: how to add it, which time periods exist, and which toggles change what you see. The Google sync, including what never appears there, is in ClickUp Google Calendar. The ClickUp hub links the neighboring views.
How do you add a ClickUp Calendar view?
ClickUp Help lists this path:
- Click + View in the Views Bar.
- Optionally mark the view private, or pin it so it stays in the bar.
- Select Calendar.
- Name it and adjust it from Customize in the upper-right.
You land on the current month. The time period control in the upper-left offers four options:
| Period | What Help says you see |
|---|---|
| Day | Tasks scheduled all day or at a set time |
| 4 days | A four-day span |
| Week | A week, and you can move tasks between days |
| Month | The whole month, and you can move tasks between days |
Left and right arrows move between periods. Today jumps back to the current day. Me mode, in the upper-right, limits the grid to tasks assigned to you.
You can move the view to Everything, a Space, a Folder, a Subfolder, or a List. Right-click the view and choose Move view, or open Customize, Layout options, then Move view. Delete works from the same two places.
Guests with edit or full permissions can create Calendar views. The view is also available in the mobile app, where you can open existing Calendar views and create new ones. Whiteboards and Gantt are not on mobile. Calendar is.
Which tasks show on ClickUp Calendar view?
By default, tasks with a start date, a due date, or both are on the calendar. The customize article adds a third path: an active Date custom field. Help's rule is direct. Tasks without a start date, due date, or active Date custom field do not appear.
You choose which of those date types the view displays. Start and due dates can be shown or hidden. Date custom fields can be shown or hidden. If you hide the only date type a task has, it drops off the grid.
Other visibility choices:
- Color by parent List, by status, or by a Dropdown custom field.
- Show subtasks as separate events. The subtask still needs its own start or due date.
- Show tasks from all Lists. At the Everything level, every List is visible by default. Help says this setting applies only to you.
- Show future recurring tasks. This option is only on paid plans.
Milestones show a diamond next to the task name. That is useful when one date is the event or the launch, and the other bars are preparation. How milestones work on Gantt is in ClickUp Gantt chart. A plain-language definition is in what is a project milestone.
Undated work belongs on List view until you commit to a day. Putting every idea on the calendar makes the week unreadable. Date the tasks you intend to do.
How do you create and reschedule tasks?
Drag an existing task to another day to change its dates. On Calendar, Gantt, and Timeline views, ClickUp Help says you can drag and drop to add or adjust due dates.
Creating a task depends on the period:
- Month: hover a day and click the plus icon.
- Day, 4 days, and Week: click an empty area at a particular time. That time becomes the due date. If the task already has a time estimate, it spans that length on the calendar.
You can also set dates from the task itself. Help says you can type natural language, such as Friday at 3 pm, for a start or due date. Once a start date, a due date, or both exist, the task is scheduled on Calendar view and can show from Home.
The date picker marks non-working days from your Workspace schedule in grey, and holidays or custom exceptions with a red dot. You can still pick a non-working day. When the Skip Non-Working Days ClickApp is on, that schedule is used when ClickUp calculates durations and reschedules connected work.
If a date change should move the tasks waiting on this one, turn on Reschedule Dependencies. The rules are in ClickUp task dependencies. The calendar will not invent those links for you.
Which calendar settings are worth changing?
Open Customize in the upper-right. Layout and field options are where the calendar stops looking like a default month.
Layout settings Help lists:
- Show weekends.
- Show hour grid lines. This does not change month view.
- Fade tasks in the past, so earlier days are quieter.
- Show week numbers, out of 52. They do not appear in day view.
- Always stay on this date, so reopening the view returns to the last date you viewed instead of today.
- Show future recurring tasks, on paid plans only.
Time format is AM/PM or 24-hour. You only see a clock time when start dates, due dates, or Date custom fields are visible.
Task cards can show or hide assignee, priority, time estimate, sprint points, time tracked, location names, subtasks, parent name, tags, tasks in multiple Lists, and custom fields. Open Customize, then Fields.
Color by List when several projects share one calendar and you need to see whose work a block is. Color by status when the question is "what is still not started this week?" Color by a Dropdown field when a field such as channel or event type matters more than the List.
Public sharing is a separate choice. A publicly shared Calendar view displays in 12-hour time even if your settings use 24-hour time. Sharing a view with people outside the Workspace is covered in the public sharing rules. Private view sharing inside the Workspace is in early access, and Help says future limits may apply.
How does Calendar view differ from Google Calendar and Gantt?
Keep the three tools separate in your head.
| Tool | Job |
|---|---|
| ClickUp Calendar view | Dated tasks inside ClickUp. Unlimited uses on every plan. |
| Google Calendar integration | A personal sync to a Google Calendar you own. Not a shared Google Calendar. Google events do not become tasks. |
| Gantt view | Dependencies and a longer chain. 60 uses on Free Forever, unlimited on Unlimited and above. |
The Google integration is on every plan, and the connection is personal. Closed tasks, tasks with a past due date, and tasks whose start date is more than 60 days out do not sync. That is a different filter from Calendar view, which can still show those dated tasks inside ClickUp.
Gantt is the picture for "what blocks what." Calendar is the picture for "what is on Tuesday." An event week often needs both. The event-specific setup is in ClickUp for event planning. Recurring work, and the paid-plan limit on future occurrences, is in ClickUp recurring tasks.
ClickUp Help also points to Planner as a different place to schedule and join events. This article is about Calendar view only. Do not assume every Planner control exists on the Calendar grid.
Which plan do you need for Calendar view?
You do not upgrade for Calendar view itself. Help says unlimited uses are on all plans, including Free Forever.
Upgrade for the features around it:
- Future recurring tasks on the calendar: paid plans.
- Unlimited Gantt: Unlimited and above. Unlimited is $7 per user/month billed annually ($10 monthly).
- Native time tracking, if you want tracked time on the card as a normal feature rather than a free-plan trial: Unlimited.
- Business, at $12 per user/month billed annually ($19 monthly), when reporting and automation limits are the real constraint.
Prices were checked in October 2026. The plan table is in ClickUp pricing.
Use Calendar view as the weekly plan for work that already has an owner and a date. Keep undated backlog on the List. Sync to Google only if you already live in that calendar, and read the sync limits before you rely on it for a shared team schedule.

Frequently asked questions
Is ClickUp Calendar view free?
Yes. ClickUp Help says all plans include unlimited uses of Calendar view. Guests with edit or full permissions can create Calendar views.
Why is a task missing from ClickUp Calendar view?
It has no start date, no due date, and no active Date custom field. Subtasks also stay hidden unless you show subtasks and the subtask itself has a start or due date.
Can you drag tasks on the ClickUp calendar?
Yes. Drag and drop changes the task dates. In month view, hover a day and use the plus icon to create a task. In other periods, click an empty time slot. That time becomes the due date.
Does ClickUp Calendar view show future recurring tasks?
Only on paid plans. Free Forever still shows the current recurring task when it has a date. The option to show future occurrences is not on the free plan.
Is ClickUp Calendar view the same as Google Calendar?
No. Calendar view is inside ClickUp. The Google Calendar integration is a separate personal connection that syncs dated tasks to a Google Calendar you own.
