Short answer

ClickUp Map view plots tasks that have an address in a Location custom field. It is unavailable on Free Forever. Unlimited includes 5 uses, and Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise include unlimited uses. Two tasks at the same address share one pin.

ClickUp Map view shows where the work is. Each task with an address in a Location custom field becomes a point on a map. You choose which Location field the view reads, and you color the pins by the Workspace theme, by priority, by status, or by a dropdown field that already has colors. Free Forever does not include the view. Unlimited includes 5 uses. Business and above include unlimited uses.

Help describes the view as a way to find a job location, a real estate listing, or a delivery address that already sits on a task. It does not describe driving directions. The rest of the product is on the ClickUp hub. Prices in this guide were checked in October 2026.

What is ClickUp Map view?

A Map view is a layout of tasks you already have. You can add it on a Space, Folder, Subfolder, or List. Moving around the map does not create a second set of tasks. Click a plotted point and Help says the task card opens. Tasks with no address stay off the map and collect in a sidebar.

The address has to live in a Location custom field. Help describes that field as a formatted address based on Google Maps, and it points you to Map view as the way to see those addresses together. A Text field can hold an address you type by hand. Help says that text will not plot. If Google Maps does not have the exact address, the Location field shows the closest match. Help's fallback, when a street address will not resolve, is a Google Maps Plus Code.

Custom fields have their own meter. Setting a value on a task counts as a use for every field type. Free Forever includes 60 custom field uses. Unlimited and above include unlimited custom field uses. Creating the Location field does not count. A Free Forever Workspace can store a small set of addresses and still have no Map view, because the view itself starts on Unlimited.

What you storeWhat Map view does with it
Location custom fieldPlots the task when the address resolves
Text field with an addressLeaves the task off the map
Two or more tasks at one addressShows a single pin
No Location valueLists the task in the Tasks sidebar

Pin color is a display choice:

Color sourceWhat the pin uses
DefaultThe Workspace theme color
PriorityThe task priority
StatusThe task status
Custom FieldAny dropdown that has colors set

You can switch one Map view between Location fields, or save a separate Map view per field, when a List tracks both a site address and a billing address. The second view spends from the same plan cap.

How do you add a ClickUp Map view?

Help's path is the same at every level of the hierarchy.

  1. Click + View in the Views Bar.
  2. Optional: check Private view, or Pin view.
  3. Select Map.
  4. Name the view and adjust it from Customize on the right.

Private views are a separate plan row. The views limits page lists them as unavailable on Free Forever and Unlimited, and available on Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise. Required views cannot be made private. On Unlimited you can spend the 5 Map view uses, and a private Map view still waits until Business. Pinning a view so it stays in the Views Bar is documented on every plan.

In the upper right of the map, click Tasks to open the sidebar. Help says that sidebar lists the tasks that do not have a Location custom field set. That list is the cleanup pass for missing addresses. Click a pin to open its task card. Help also includes a satellite view when you want a closer look at the site itself.

Public sharing is a short section in Help: you can share the view with someone outside the Workspace. A private Map view can be shared with people in the Workspace or with a link. Help marks that private sharing as fully available during early access, and notes that future limits may apply. If a client process depends on the link, confirm the current sharing rules before you send it.

Which plan includes ClickUp Map view?

Help's views table is the source for the caps. For Map view, that article publishes the allowance and does not publish the list of clicks that spend a use.

PlanMap view
Free ForeverNot available
Unlimited5 uses
BusinessUnlimited uses
Business PlusUnlimited uses
EnterpriseUnlimited uses

ClickUp's pricing article says feature usage limits do not reset. Monthly limits, such as AI credits on paid plans and Automation actions, are the exception. When a usage limit is hit, ClickUp says the data you already created stays, and you cannot keep editing or adding with that feature until the Workspace is upgraded.

Our price data, checked October 2026, lists Free Forever at $0, Unlimited at $7 per user per month billed annually ($10 monthly), and Business at $12 per user per month billed annually ($19 monthly). Enterprise is custom. Our data does not publish a Business Plus price. The full ladder is in ClickUp pricing.

Five uses on Unlimited is a short look at the map. If the team opens this view every morning, Business is the plan that removes the meter. Confirm the current cap on ClickUp's views limits page before you make the map a required view.

The Location field and the map are two meters. Filling an address spends a custom field use on Free Forever, up to 60. Opening the map spends from the Map view allowance, which that plan does not have. On Unlimited the field values are unlimited and the map stops at 5 uses.

When should you use a List instead of Map view?

Use Map view when the question is geographic: which listings sit near each other, which sites share a street, which venue is the one already on the task. Use List view when the question is status, owner, or due date. A practical split is the map for planning and the List for the day's edits, where empty fields and filters are easier to scan.

ClickUp for real estate already draws that line. The MLS, the contract, and escrow stay in the brokerage tools. ClickUp holds the work around the deal, and a Location field is how a listing task or a showing task earns a pin. Event planning is the same pattern for venues. The address belongs on the task. The map is the overview.

Mind Maps branch a plan into nodes. Map view plots addresses. Team view shows who holds the work, one box per assignee. Those layouts answer different questions, and each of them still depends on the task data underneath. If the only need is columns on a board, Trello is the simpler tool. The ClickUp review is the wider picture if you are still choosing a workspace.
