Short answer
ClickUp Team view shows one box per assignee, plus a box for unassigned tasks, with work grouped by status. It is not on Free Forever. Unlimited includes 100 uses, and Business and above include unlimited uses. The Workload Report box starts on Business.
ClickUp Team view shows who holds the work right now. Each person in the Space, Folder, Subfolder, or List gets a box. Tasks with no owner get a box of their own. Inside a box, tasks are grouped by status, so you can see what is still open and what is already done without opening five separate filters.
ClickUp Help still calls this the view formerly known as Box view. You add it from the Views Bar, then pick how the box measures load: number of tasks, time estimates, or Sprint Points. The view itself starts on Unlimited. Free Forever does not include it. Prices in this guide were checked in October 2026. The rest of the product sits on the ClickUp hub.
What is ClickUp Team view?
A Team view is a people-first layout of the tasks already in that location. Help describes it as a way to see what the team is working on, what they have finished, and what their capacity looks like. It is not a second task database. Moving a task here changes the task you already have.
Three workload units are documented:
| Workload unit | What the box compares |
|---|---|
| Number of tasks | Tasks in Not Done statuses versus Done statuses |
| Time Estimate | Estimated time on Not Done tasks versus Done tasks |
| Sprint Points | Sprint Points on Not Done tasks versus Done tasks |
You change the unit from Customize, or the settings icon, then the Workload dropdown. Time estimates are a separate ClickApp. You can type an estimate from Team view once that ClickApp is on. Estimates per assignee, which split one task's hours across people, start on Business. The Team view unit still reads the estimate on the task.
Sprint Points are the relative effort scale used in ClickUp sprints, not hours. If the Space is not using points, that unit will not tell you much. Use task count until points are a habit.
Help also says you can expand every task in a box with one click. Expanding a box counts as a use on plans that meter Team view. That matters on Unlimited, where the cap is 100 uses.
How do you add a ClickUp Team view?
Help's path is short.
- Click + View in the Views Bar.
- Optional: check Private view, or Pin view.
- Select Team.
- Name the view and adjust it from Customize on the right.
Private views are a plan feature of their own. The views limits page lists private views as unavailable on Free Forever and Unlimited, and available on Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise. Required views cannot be made private. If Team view is one of the required views in a Space, the private checkbox will not apply to it. Pinning keeps the view in the Views Bar. Help does not put pinning on a paid tier.
When Team view is a required view for the Space, the hotkey is X. List is L, Board is B, and Calendar is C. Those hotkeys jump between required views. They do not create the view.
The Show menu, in the upper right, adds detail onto the boxes:
| Show option | What you see |
|---|---|
| Task locations | The Space, Folder, Subfolder, or List the task lives in |
| Subtask parent names | The parent task name on a subtask |
| Tasks in Multiple Lists | Which tasks also sit on another List |
| Assigned comments | How many assigned comments that person has in this group of tasks |
You can click an assigned comment from the box and resolve it there. That is the same assigned-comment workflow covered in assigned comments. Tasks that appear in more than one List are explained in tasks in multiple lists. Turn that Show option on when a task's home List is not the List you are looking at, or the status you see will be confusing.
How do you rebalance work in Team view?
Drag a task from one box to another. Help's resource article describes that drop as the way you move work between people. The unassigned box is the holding area for tasks nobody owns yet. A standup that starts from Team view can end with an empty unassigned box and a quick look at who is heavy on Not Done.
The Workload Report box is separate from those assignee boxes. Help says it is only on the Business plan and up. It is the summary of who finishes the most, who has the most open tasks, and who could take more. If you are on Unlimited, you still get the assignee boxes and the three workload units. You do not get that report box.
Sharing a private Team view with other people in the Workspace is described as fully available during early access, with a note that future limits may apply. Help lists two share paths: share with people in the Workspace, or share with a link. Treat the early-access line as temporary. Do not build a client process on it until ClickUp publishes a stable limit.
Which plan includes ClickUp Team view?
Help's views table is the source for the caps below. A use is an action, not a saved view and not a person.
| Plan | Team view | What counts toward the cap |
|---|---|---|
| Free Forever | Not available | |
| Unlimited | 100 uses | Status updates, new tasks, expanding boxes, workload unit changes, sorting changes, layout changes in Customize |
| Business | Unlimited uses | |
| Business Plus | Unlimited uses | |
| Enterprise | Unlimited uses |
Our price data, checked October 2026, lists Free Forever at $0, Unlimited at $7 per user per month billed annually ($10 monthly), and Business at $12 per user per month billed annually ($19 monthly). Enterprise is custom. Our data does not publish a Business Plus price. Full plan notes are in ClickUp pricing.
A 100-use cap is enough to try the view on a single List for a week. It is a poor fit for a daily resourcing meeting, because expanding boxes and changing status are ordinary clicks, and both count.
When should you use Workload view instead?
Workload view answers a different question: how full is each person across days, weeks, or months. It colors load against capacity and can measure tasks, time estimates, Sprint Points, or certain number fields. Team view answers who owns which open tasks, grouped by status, in the location you are already in.
Use Team view when the job is assignment. Use Workload view when the job is the calendar. Many teams keep both: Team view on the List they work from, Workload view when they plan the next two weeks. Workload has its own caps: 60 uses on Free Forever, 100 on Unlimited, and unlimited uses on Business and above.
Trello is the simpler board if the team only needs columns and will not look at capacity. Asana is the more polished tracker if you want a lighter interface and you do not need this box layout. Team view is the reason to stay in ClickUp when the question in the room is "who already has this?" The ClickUp review covers the rest of the product if you are still choosing a tool.

Frequently asked questions
What is ClickUp Team view?
Team view, formerly Box view, shows a box for each assignee in a Space, Folder, Subfolder, or List, plus a box for tasks with no assignee. Tasks inside a box are grouped by status.
Is ClickUp Team view on the free plan?
No. ClickUp Help lists Team view as unavailable on Free Forever, with 100 uses on Unlimited and unlimited uses on Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise.
What counts as a use of Team view?
Help counts updating a task status, creating a task, expanding a box, changing the workload unit, changing sorting, and changing layout options in Customize.
Can you drag tasks between people in Team view?
Yes. Help says you manage workload by dragging and dropping tasks. Dropping a task on another person's box is how you reassign it.
Is Team view the same as Workload view?
No. Team view groups current tasks by person and status. Workload view places people on a day, week, or month calendar and colors the load against capacity.
