Short answer

Jira is free for up to 10 users and 2GB of storage. Standard is about $7.91 per user per month and Premium is about $14.54. Enterprise is custom. Our data says the per user price varies with team size, so the pricing page is the quote. Docs stay in Confluence, which is a separate product.

Jira pricing in our data has four rows. The free plan covers up to 10 users and 2GB of storage. Standard is about $7.91 per user per month. Premium is about $14.54 per user per month. Enterprise is custom. Those paid figures are the "about" numbers we have, and our data says the per user price changes with team size. Do not multiply them by headcount and treat the result as an invoice.

The figures were checked in October 2026. Confirm the quote for your team on the official Jira pricing page. Who the free plan is for, in shorter form, is is Jira free. The product summary is the Jira profile and the Jira review.

How much does Jira cost?

Our data does not publish a monthly versus annual split for Jira, and it does not publish a price that ignores headcount. The table is the shape of the bill.

PlanPrice in our dataWhat our data says
Free$0Up to 10 users, 2GB of storage
StandardAbout $7.91 per user per monthThe first paid tier. The rate varies with team size
PremiumAbout $14.54 per user per monthThe higher published tier. The rate varies with team size
EnterpriseCustomNo list price in our data

Paid tiers, in our pricing notes, add permissions, advanced planning, and support. The pricing page is where those additions are spelled out for the current offer. This guide will not invent a feature matrix that our data does not include.

Because the price varies with team size, 11 people is not automatically 11 times $7.91. Get the number Jira shows for that headcount. A team that crosses 10 users should expect a per user bill on the accounts the quote covers, not a fee that applies only to the 11th person. If the pricing page shows an annual discount, use that figure. Our data does not state one, so this page does not either.

What does the free Jira plan include?

The free plan is the same issue tracker, with a user cap and a storage cap. Our data does not describe a time limit. A team of 10 can run a backlog until an 11th account or the 2GB cap forces a decision.

What Jira is for, on the product side of our data:

Included in the product notesNot included in the Jira subscription
Scrum and Kanban boardsA wiki. Docs live in Confluence
Backlogs, sprints, and roadmapsA general office task app for non-technical teams
Custom workflows and issue trackingStorage past 2GB on the free plan
Agile reports such as burndown and velocityAn 11th free user
Automation rules
Ties to Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Figma

Which of those reports and planning tools sit only on Standard or Premium is a pricing page question. Our notes say paid tiers add permissions, advanced planning, and support, and they stop there. Count storage as well as seats. A team under 10 people can still leave the free plan because screenshots and attachments filled 2GB.

Jira is the reference tool for agile software work in our data, and it is a heavy one for everyone else. Engineers who already speak Scrum usually get moving. Marketing and operations teams often find the words and the setup demanding. A free plan the team will not open is not a savings. The free plan comparison across tools is in is Jira free.

How do Standard and Premium compare with ClickUp?

ClickUp's published rates do not vary with team size in our data. Unlimited is $7 per user per month billed annually, or $10 if you pay monthly. Business is $12 annually, or $19 monthly. Enterprise is custom. AI is a separate add-on from $9 per user per month. Those numbers are in ClickUp pricing.

Jira's about rates sit next to them. They are not the same kind of number, because Jira's change with headcount and ClickUp's list prices do not.

Annual ClickUp math is safe to multiply, because the list price is per user. Unlimited is $84 per person per year at the $7 rate. Business is $144. Ten people are $840 on Unlimited and $1,440 on Business, before the AI add-on.

Jira Standard at about $7.91 is about $94.92 per person per year only if that rate stays flat. Our data says it does not stay flat. Use the illustration to see that the stickers are in the same neighborhood as ClickUp Unlimited, then replace it with the quote. Premium at about $14.54 is in the neighborhood of ClickUp Business at $12 on annual billing, and it is below ClickUp Business at the $19 monthly rate. Neighborhood is not a bill.

A 10 person software team that is still under the free cap pays $0 for Jira and would pay $840 a year for ClickUp Unlimited if they wanted that plan. The free Jira plan is the better price until the 11th user or the storage cap. It is the worse product if those 10 people also need a wiki, a client friendly task list, or time tracking in the same subscription. Confluence is an extra line item our data does not price.

Other annual stickers from the same October 2026 data, for scale: monday.com Basic is about $9 per seat per month, Asana Starter is $10.99 per user per month, and Trello Standard is $5. Wrike pricing and Basecamp pricing are the neighboring write-ups if you are pricing a company tool rather than an issue tracker.

Who should pay for Jira?

Stay on free while all of these are true:

  1. The team is 10 people or fewer.
  2. Storage is under 2GB, or you have a plan for attachments that does not depend on hoping.
  3. The work is issues, a backlog, and sprints. You are not trying to run the rest of the company in the same project.
  4. You do not yet need the permissions, advanced planning, or support our notes place on paid tiers.

Move to Standard when the 11th user arrives or when the free plan's limits block a workflow the pricing page puts on Standard. Move to Premium when you need what that tier adds and the quote for your headcount is one you will actually pay. Enterprise is a sales conversation.

Choose ClickUp instead when the buyers are not only the engineering team. Our data scores Jira as the strongest fit for agile software projects and a poor default for non-technical groups. ClickUp is the alternative when those groups share one Workspace with engineering and you want docs in the same seat price. The direct comparison is ClickUp vs Jira. Asana vs Jira is the structured project tool against the issue tracker. Jira alternatives collects the short list.

If you do stay with Jira for the engineers, ClickUp for software teams is still the page to read before you assume an issue tracker is the only way to run sprints. Jira remains the right paid bill for a team that already lives in the Atlassian stack and wants the deepest agile reporting. ClickUp is the right paid bill when the same people also need the rest of the work in one place. Compare the quote Jira shows for your headcount with ClickUp Unlimited at $7, not with a back of the envelope multiple of $7.91.
