Short answer
ClickUp Activity view is a feed of changes in one location: status, assignees, comments, dates, and more. Help lists 24 hours of history on Free Forever, 7 days on Unlimited, and unlimited history on Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise. You can filter by task or by activity type, and Me Mode limits the feed to your tasks.
ClickUp Activity view is the change log for a Space, Folder, Subfolder, or List. List view shows the tasks as they are now. Activity view shows what happened: a status moved, someone was assigned, a comment landed, a due date changed. Help also says you can open a person's profile for their own activity, and that you can put an Activity view card on a Dashboard to watch a project, comments, or status changes.
The history is not the same length on every plan. ClickUp's views limits article lists 24 hours on Free Forever, 7 days on Unlimited, and unlimited history on Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise. Prices in this guide are from our tool data, checked in October 2026. The ClickUp hub links the other views, including List view.
What is ClickUp Activity view?
Add it from the Views bar: + Add, then Activity. Name the view, then use Customize on the right. A search bar in the upper right finds specific activity. Subtasks are included until you turn them off.
This is a location feed. It is not your Inbox. Inbox is what ClickUp addressed to you: assignments, mentions, comments, and reminders, with Primary, Other, Later, and Cleared. Activity view is what changed on the work in that location, including changes that never notified you. A manager checking a client Folder on Monday wants the feed. A person clearing their own mentions wants Inbox.
You need Edit or Full edit permission on the List, Subfolder, Folder, or Space to create a view there. Help's role table says guests can use views on locations shared with them. Guests cannot create views at the Everything level. Members, admins, and the owner can.
How much activity history does each plan keep?
The cap is the reason some teams think the view is empty. On Free Forever, anything older than 24 hours is outside the window Help lists.
| Plan | Activity history in Help | Price in our data |
|---|---|---|
| Free Forever | 24 hours | $0 |
| Unlimited | 7 days | $7 per user/month billed annually ($10 monthly) |
| Business | Unlimited | $12 per user/month billed annually ($19 monthly) |
| Business Plus | Unlimited | Not priced in our data |
| Enterprise | Unlimited | Custom |
Seven days on Unlimited covers a weekly review. It does not cover "what changed last month." Unlimited history is the Business line in this table, and Help lists the same unlimited history on Business Plus and Enterprise. Our data does not publish a Business Plus price. Do not invent one from the plan name. Confirm it on ClickUp's pricing page if that tier is the one on your quote. ClickUp pricing and Free vs Unlimited compare the two tiers our data prices in full.
A team that only checks yesterday can stay on Free Forever for this view. A team that runs a Monday meeting on last week's changes needs at least Unlimited. A team that audits a quarter needs Business or above, or another record outside this view. The view does not replace exported time reports or a Doc you wrote on purpose.
How do you filter ClickUp Activity view?
Help describes two filters, and they stack.
A task filter limits which tasks are allowed into the feed. Open the filter icon, or Customize, or the settings cog, then Filter, and add a condition. Tasks that fail that filter are hidden even when their activity matches the activity filter.
An activity filter limits which kinds of events you see. Customize, then Activities, then Select All or the individual types. The types you see depend on the ClickApps you have enabled. A Workspace with email or time tracking turned off will not offer those rows.
Me Mode sits below the Views bar, to the right of Filters. It restricts the feed to tasks assigned to you. There is also a view setting, Default to Me Mode, so everyone who opens the view starts on their own tasks.
Other settings under Customize, then More settings:
| Setting | What Help says |
|---|---|
| Add to favorites | Pin the view in favorites |
| Autosave view | Save layout changes for everyone in the Workspace |
| Pin | Pin the view |
| Protect view | Lock it against accidental edits. On the Business plan and above. The views article lists 10 protect uses on Business, and protect without that cap on Business Plus and Enterprise |
| Private view | Only you, until you share it. On the Business plan and above. Free Forever and Unlimited cannot use private views. Required views cannot be made private |
| Default for everyone | Make this the default view. Help lists default views as unavailable on Free Forever and Unlimited, 5 uses on Business, and unlimited on Business Plus and Enterprise |
| Default to Me Mode | Open on the viewer's assigned tasks |
| Reset view to defaults | Clear filters and view settings |
Private view sharing, with people in the Workspace or with a link, is in early access. Help says future limits may apply. Do not promise a client a permanent private link from this view until you have checked the current sharing screen. Guest access is the safer write-up for client logins.
Which activity types can you show?
Help's list is long because the feed can include almost every edit. These are the ones most teams actually turn on or off:
| Activity | What it records |
|---|---|
| Task creation | A task was created |
| Status | A status changed |
| Assignee | An assignee was added |
| Priority | Priority changed |
| Due date and start date | A date was added |
| Comments and assigned comments | A comment was posted, or a comment was assigned |
| Tags | A tag was added |
| Custom Fields | A Custom Field was added or edited |
| Checklists | A checklist was added |
| New subtask | A subtask was created |
| Dependencies | A dependency was added |
| Time estimate and time tracked | An estimate or a time entry changed |
| Attachments | A file was added |
| Recurring | A task was set to recur |
| Added or removed from List | A task moved on or off a List, including Tasks in Multiple Lists |
| Name | The task name changed |
| Follower | A follower was added or removed |
| Sharing settings | Sharing changed |
Help also lists reactions, content embeds, email sent from a task, GitHub items, HubSpot activity, Zoom meetings started from a task, merged tasks, a List moving to another location, sprint points, and template merges. Leave those on when that ClickApp is part of the work. Turn them off when they bury status changes.
Sprint points and Git activity are useful on a software List and noise on a content List. ClickUp sprints is the sprint setup if points are the signal you wanted. Time entries in the feed are a trace, not a timesheet. Time tracking is where hours are reviewed.
When should you use a dashboard or Inbox instead?
Use Activity view when you are standing in a location and want the recent edits. Use a Dashboard card when that same feed should sit next to other reporting. Help says an Activity view card on a Dashboard can monitor project activity, comments, or status changes. ClickUp dashboards covers the rest of the cards. The card does not lengthen the history past your plan.
Use Inbox when the question is "what do I need to answer?" Use Me Mode on Activity view when the question is "what changed on my tasks in this Folder?" Those are different lists. Assigned comments also have their own page, which is the right tool when the work item is a comment someone must resolve. That flow is in assigned comments.
A reasonable setup for a small team:
- One Activity view on the client Folder or the delivery Space, filtered to status, assignee, and due date.
- Me Mode off for the person running the review, on for everyone else if you set Default to Me Mode.
- Unlimited if the review looks back a week. Business if you need the older history or a private view.
- Inbox left as the personal queue, so the location feed never becomes a second notification center.
ClickUp fits this if you already keep the work in one Workspace and you want the log next to the tasks. A team that only needs a board, and never asks what changed, will not open the view. Add it when someone is already reconstructing the week from comments. The free plan will show you yesterday. Pay for a longer window only when yesterday is not the question.
