Short answer
ClickUp for nonprofits is the same workspace, used for volunteer tasks, events, forms, and simple donor reporting. A nonprofit discount exists, and ClickUp does not publish the amount. Free Forever is $0, with tight limits on storage, forms, and several reporting features.
ClickUp for nonprofits means using one Workspace for the work a small staff and a rotating group of volunteers actually touch: shifts, events, grant tasks, and a simple record of hours or donations. ClickUp's own nonprofit page describes that setup and says Free Forever does not require a credit card. It also says a nonprofit can receive an exclusive discount on the Workspace. The discount amount is not on the page.
This guide stays with what ClickUp publishes and with the plan limits in our tool data. Prices were checked in October 2026. The ClickUp hub is the index of feature guides if you want the setup steps next.
What does ClickUp's nonprofit page include?
The page at clickup.com/teams/non-profit describes six jobs. It does not describe a separate nonprofit product. You get the same ClickUp, pointed at this work.
| Job on the nonprofit page | Feature it names |
|---|---|
| Funding and donor reporting | Custom Fields and Formulas, for donations, hours, and similar numbers |
| Volunteer tasks and events | Calendar view, including dragging tasks onto the calendar, and sharing that calendar publicly |
| Volunteer hours | Time tracking, with notes and tags to tell hours apart |
| Intake | Forms for volunteer opportunities, applications, and suggestions |
| Team work | Multiple assignees, subtasks, and progress on a Dashboard |
| Other tools | Integrations, named only in general |
Those lines are marketing descriptions of features that also have plan limits. The limits matter more than the headline, because a volunteer program on Free Forever can hit them in a month.
Custom fields, including Formula fields, have 60 uses on Free Forever. A use is setting a value on a task. Unlimited uses start on paid plans. Help says you can calculate Formula fields on all paid plans. A formula is a poor fit until the number fields are filled in on real tasks. The field rules are in ClickUp custom fields.
Calendar view itself is on every plan. Public sharing of a Calendar view is documented in Help as sharing with someone outside the Workspace. That is the path the nonprofit page is pointing at when it says volunteers can see when and where they are needed. It is not the same as pushing tasks into a shared Google Calendar. ClickUp Google Calendar explains that shared Google calendars cannot receive ClickUp tasks.
Forms are the intake path. Each submission becomes a task. Free Forever includes 1 form, from ClickUp's views table. That one form can be the volunteer application. A second form, for donations or event ideas, waits until Unlimited, which lists unlimited forms. Conditional questions are a Business Plus and Enterprise feature. Details are in ClickUp Forms.
Time tracking is listed as a trial on Free Forever and as native time tracking from the Unlimited plan. The pricing comparison places notes, labels, and billable time on Business. Read ClickUp time tracking before you promise the board an hours report from the free plan.
Dashboards are a trial on Free Forever and Unlimited. Unlimited dashboards with advanced cards are a Business feature. A board report that people open every week belongs on Business, because viewing a dashboard counts as a use on the lower plans. See ClickUp dashboards.
Goals are a trial on Free Forever and are included from Unlimited, which lists Goals and Portfolio management. A grant with a numeric target can be a Goal once you are ready to leave the trial. Examples of how small teams write the targets are in OKR examples for small teams, and the ClickUp feature is in ClickUp Goals and OKRs.
How do you set up volunteers, events, and grants?
Use one Space for the organization while you are on Free Forever. The pricing page allows 5 Spaces on that plan. A Space per program spends the cap and splits search.
Inside the Space, three Lists cover the work the nonprofit page is about.
Volunteers. One List of shifts or roles. Each task has a date, a location in the task name or a custom field, and assignees. Multiple assignees are on the pricing page without a plan gate. Add the single Form on Free Forever as the application, so a submission becomes a task instead of an email you retype. When someone is accepted, move that task through your statuses or create the shift tasks from a template.
Events. One List per event, or one List for every event this quarter if the events are small. Tasks are venue, suppliers, run of show, and the volunteer shifts that belong to that day. Calendar view on the Folder shows the dates. Drag a task onto a day when the date changes. Share the Calendar view if outside volunteers need the schedule and should not have a paid seat.
Grants. One List per active grant, or one List of grants if you only track deadlines. Tasks are the narrative, the budget draft, the submission, and the report. A Doc holds the narrative. The pricing page lists 1 wiki on Free Forever, Unlimited, and Business, so use the wiki for standing policies and ordinary Docs for each proposal. ClickUp Docs covers that split.
Add a Goal only for a number you will update, such as a fundraising total, and only after you know whether you are still inside the Free Forever trial. A Goal with no owner becomes a slogan.
Recurring tasks fit the work that actually repeats: a monthly board pack, a weekly volunteer reminder, a grant report that is due every quarter. They are on every plan. Set them in ClickUp recurring tasks. Future instances do not sync to Google Calendar. Only the current one does.
Storage is the quiet limit. Free Forever is 60MB for the Workspace, and file attachments are what count. A few signed PDFs on grant tasks can spend that. Link large files from Drive instead of attaching them, or move to Unlimited, which lists unlimited storage.
Does ClickUp offer a nonprofit discount?
Yes, with two official wordings, and neither one states a percent or a dollar amount.
ClickUp's pricing FAQ asks whether discounts exist for nonprofits, students, educators, or startups, and answers yes. For nonprofits, it says to use the "Claim your nonprofit discount" control on that page.
ClickUp Help's article on nonprofit and educational discounts says the company offers discounts to some nonprofit organizations and educators, and that you should contact Support about customized pricing to match your budget. "Some" matters. Help does not say every nonprofit receives a discount, and it does not list the price.
Do not budget a paid plan at a guessed rate. Ask ClickUp, or stay on Free Forever until the limits below are the thing blocking the work. The nonprofit page's "exclusive discount" is this same offer. It is not a published coupon.
Free Forever remains $0 either way. Unlimited is $7 per user/month billed annually ($10 monthly). Business is $12 billed annually ($19 monthly). Enterprise is custom. On a paid plan, people from inside the organization are billed as members. The pricing FAQ says guests are for people outside the organization. A volunteer who only needs the public calendar does not need a guest seat. A volunteer who will edit tasks might. Paid plans include a limited number of guest seats with permission controls. Free Forever guests have full edit access that you cannot restrict.
Which plan should a small nonprofit start on?
| Situation | Reasonable plan |
|---|---|
| One program, one application form, a shared calendar | Free Forever, $0, until storage, the form cap, or field uses run out |
| Several forms, real time tracking, goals you will update, more than 60MB of files | Unlimited, $7 per user/month billed annually |
| Dashboards the board opens often, time notes and labels, heavier automations | Business, $12 per user/month billed annually |
| You have a paid quote from ClickUp's nonprofit process | Whatever plan that quote is for. The public pages do not list the rate |
Trello is the easier board if volunteers only move cards across columns and you do not need Docs, forms, and hours in the same place. That is ClickUp vs Trello. Notion is the stronger home for a policy handbook and meeting notes when task dates are secondary. That is ClickUp vs Notion. ClickUp is the fit when the event date, the volunteer task, the application form, and the hour count should be one system.
Start on Free Forever with one Space, one volunteer form, and a Calendar view you can share. Ask ClickUp about the nonprofit discount when a paid limit, not a missing feature, is what stops the work.
