Short answer

The ClickUp Microsoft Teams integration is on every plan. You can create a task from a channel or message, sync activity to a public channel with a personal connection, and search public Teams messages with a Workspace connection.

The ClickUp Microsoft Teams integration turns a channel conversation into a task, and it can send selected ClickUp activity back to a public channel. It also lets you search Teams conversations from ClickUp. Teams stays the company room. ClickUp stays the place the work is tracked.

The integration is on every plan. Guests and limited members cannot use it. If your company already lives in Slack, the matching write-up is the ClickUp Slack integration. If the conversation should live next to the task instead, that product is ClickUp Chat. The rest of the ClickUp pages are on the ClickUp hub.

What does the ClickUp Microsoft Teams integration do?

Help splits the work by connection type. A personal connection belongs to one ClickUp user. A Workspace connection is turned on by an owner or admin so other members can search.

ConnectionWho sets it upWhat Help says it is for
PersonalMembers, for their own Teams account in each Workspace they have joinedSearch your own public and private conversations. Nobody else can search that personal connection. Attach Teams conversations to tasks and comments. Open Teams in a new tab
WorkspaceOwners and adminsConnected Search of public messages from the connected account, for Workspace members

Personal data stays personal. Help says the contents of your Teams account are not available to anyone else through ClickUp when you use a personal connection. The Workspace connection is the shared one, and its search is public messages, not private chats.

Two more facts decide whether a preview is interactive. A Teams member who does not have ClickUp access can see a task preview and cannot post one. A Teams member who does have ClickUp access can see and post task previews.

How do you connect Microsoft Teams?

Connect the app from ClickUp's App Center, then add the ClickUp app inside Teams if you want the channel tools.

From the App Center, search for Microsoft Teams, open the Personal or Workspace tab, and connect. Authorize the prompt. Help's troubleshooting note for the bot is the same path: Personal, Connect, then Allow.

Inside Microsoft Teams, you do not log in to ClickUp merely to install the add-in. Open Apps, search for ClickUp, and add it. Help says that install is what puts the add-in in a channel. The first time you talk to the integration bot in a one-to-one chat, it explains the integration and points at Help Center articles.

A Microsoft admin often has to approve permissions before any of that succeeds. Help gives two routes. A coworker who is a Microsoft admin can connect Teams in the App Center and approve the scopes for everyone. Or a Microsoft admin can open Azure, go to Enterprise applications, filter by application ID ea172ec1-913d-4def-9c76-27df452263e8, open the ClickUp app, and approve permissions on the Security page.

Help separates two permission styles. The core integration uses delegated permissions, which act for a signed-in user. Connected Search uses application permissions, requested only while Connected Search is on, and removed when it is turned off. Removing the Teams integration removes its scopes as well.

Disconnect from the App Center: open Microsoft Teams, choose the Personal or Workspace tab, open the menu next to the connection, and select Disconnect. You can add it again later.

How do you create a task or attach a message?

Creating the task and attaching an existing message are different actions. Use the first when the channel has decided something new should exist. Use the second when the decision is already in a message and the task already exists.

From a channel:

  1. Click the ClickUp add-in icon.
  2. Open the ellipsis menu and select Create Task.
  3. Add the task details and click Create task.

From a message:

  1. Hover the message and open the ellipsis menu. The first time, Create Task may be under More actions.
  2. Select Create Task, add details, and click Create task.

To attach a message to a task that already exists, hover the message, open the same menu, and choose Add comment to Task. Search for the task, optionally pick an assignee, and click Add. Help says the message is added as a ClickUp comment, styled as a quote, with a link back to the original Teams message.

You can also find a task without creating one. Open the ClickUp add-in in a channel, search, and click the task. Help says that posts a preview of the task details in the channel.

If a new channel is missing from ClickUp, check membership first. You only see channels you belong to. Help says a channel you just created or joined can take several minutes to show up, and you do not need to log out for it to appear.

How does activity sync work?

Activity sync is a personal-connection feature. It sends ClickUp activity into Microsoft Teams as messages, for one Space, Folder, Subfolder, or List at a time. You can point that stream at its own Teams channel so the project room is not mixed with every other notification.

From the Personal tab of Microsoft Teams in the App Center:

  1. Next to Sync ClickUp Activity to Channels, click Add.
  2. Select a Space, Folder, Subfolder, or List.
  3. Select a public Teams channel you are in. Private channels are not available for activity sync.
  4. Choose the messages. Assigned to me sends activity only for tasks assigned to you. Include Private adds private tasks, Lists, Subfolders, and Folders. A third control picks which kinds of task activity to send.
  5. Install the ClickUp app in that Teams channel. If messages never arrive, Help says to check that the ClickUp app is not blocked.

Assigned to me is a filter on those Teams messages. It is not Me Mode. Me Mode limits a ClickUp view to tasks assigned to you. The Teams toggle only decides which activity leaves ClickUp.

Tasks that live in more than one List follow a home-List rule. Help says they create Teams activity messages only when their home List is part of the location you selected. If a task was added to a second List and the sync points at that second List, silence is expected. The home-List idea is covered in tasks in multiple Lists.

Pasting a ClickUp link in Teams unfurls a preview.

LinkWhat the preview includes
TaskTitle, status, due date, assignees, priority, and location. If the task is in several Lists, only the List it was created in or moved to is shown
CommentWho wrote it, a preview of the comment, and where it was posted
DocTitle, a preview, the owner, and the Doc's location

The other direction works too. A Teams link pasted inside a sentence in ClickUp stays inline, and you can hover it. A Teams link on its own line can be inline, a live preview, or a plain URL. Previews work in task descriptions, comments, Docs, and Chat. Hover and use the ellipsis to change the preview type.

After the first Teams link is pasted into a task description or comment, a Teams icon appears in the task's right sidebar. That panel lists the Teams links on the task. Previews are grouped by type, and you can switch between a grid and a table.

Search is separate from the panel. After the integration is on, Personal Connected Search covers the public and private conversations in your own connected account. Workspace Connected Search covers public messages for members. Other App Center connections are surveyed in ClickUp integrations.

Help's Teams article also answers a question people bring over from older setups: the embedded view is not supported in the current Microsoft Teams integration. If you need a website or a calendar inside a ClickUp location, that is Embed view, not this integration.

Sync one location to one public channel, and turn on Assigned to me if the channel should not receive every edit in the Space. Private channels cannot be the destination.

Which plan do you need, and when should you skip it?

You do not upgrade ClickUp to get this integration. Help lists it on every plan, including Free Forever. Our prices, checked October 2026, still matter for the rest of the Workspace: Unlimited is $7 per user per month billed annually ($10 monthly), and Business is $12 per user per month billed annually ($19 monthly). Those numbers are in ClickUp pricing. They are not a Teams surcharge.

Keep the integration narrow when the people who need the thread are not in Teams. Put that conversation in ClickUp Chat, or in a Doc if the output is a page. Docs are covered in ClickUp Docs. If you wanted a live embedded ClickUp screen inside a Teams tab, Help says that embedded view is not supported. And if only you need search, a personal connection is enough. Turn on the Workspace connection when other members should search public messages.

ClickUp is a reasonable home for the tasks if the same people also need docs, several views, and a shared hierarchy. Microsoft Teams remains the right room when the company already runs meetings and chat there. The integration is how those two facts coexist. The ClickUp review is the wider product note if you are still choosing the task tool.

Frequently asked questions

Does ClickUp integrate with Microsoft Teams?

Yes. The integration is on every ClickUp plan. You can create tasks from a channel or a message, preview ClickUp links in Teams, and search Teams conversations from ClickUp.

How do you create a ClickUp task from Microsoft Teams?

In a channel, open the ClickUp add-in, then the ellipsis menu, and choose Create Task. From a message, open the message menu and choose Create Task. The first time, the menu may sit under More actions.

Can ClickUp post activity into a private Teams channel?

No. Activity sync sends messages only to public channels you are in. Private channels are not available for that sync.

Who can connect Microsoft Teams to ClickUp?

Members can connect a personal account. Workspace owners and admins manage the Workspace connection. Guests and limited members cannot use the integration. A Microsoft admin may have to approve the app's permissions.

Does the Teams integration replace ClickUp Chat?

No. Chat is the conversation inside ClickUp. The Teams integration is the bridge when the company will keep talking in Microsoft Teams. Keep Teams if people outside the ClickUp Workspace need the thread.
